Senior Designer at Fjord
When I was young, my parents told me stories of how they're making a difference to our communities in Egypt and around Africa. Dad talked to me about how he's working to get clean water and education for underserved communities. Mum told us how she's helping build houses for the homeless.
This was my start. Ever since I was young, I wanted to make a difference to the world. I stumbled on Design and Systems thinking as approaches that help to engage diverse perspectives, enabling people to navigate complexity and design a better future.
These days I'm working at Fjord, a design consultancy that aims to design for human impact. I am also running Design for Impact - a global community of Change-makers: https://www.designforimpact.co/
I have had the privilege to lead research and design projects that focus on social impact, including: · Reducing chronic malnutrition levels in Nepal with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation · Improving the healthcare experience with local government, and · Diffusing values and learning globally to improve gender equality with Plan International
“I had an awesome chat with Abram, and it really helped me out. He not only answered all my questions, but also gave me the space to think and gain more clarity about my current situation. He shared his thoughts and experiences, which made me feel supported. I'm super thankful for his help and can't wait to learn more from him!”
“I attended the group session Abram held on using your design skills for good. The personal stories he shared were illuminating, breaking many of my preconceptions about what "design for social good" entailed, and demonstrating sustainable ways to contribute positively to the world while practicing design and systems thinking skills.”
“Abram shared his inspiring personal experience. Loved the group session and the insights from Abram! Super interesting and definitely useful info for anyone interested in designing for an impact”
