I'm a design leader with 15 years experience, currently leading the Economy Growth Team at Atlassian.
I believe that designers are leaders. They lead our teams to success by ensuring customer value is at the core of everything they do.
As a design leader, it’s my role to empower designers to lead their teams in service of our customers. I own the vision, set the tone, foster the mindset, and build the practice that results in the best outcomes for the people who use our products.
I believe that great design leaders know when to lead actively, too. They have a strong opinion, and will roll-up their sleeves to help the team get shit done, and lead by example.
I believe that great experiences are nurtured when small consistent steps are made toward bold, aspirational futures.
I value strategy where the customer is integral to our decisions; not an afterthought. I value divergence of exploration, experimentation, and a fierce appetite to learn through design, by design, in order to create customer and business value.
I invest heavily in personal relationships and building a foundation of trust; whether my own cross-functional team or my reports. I value directness and honesty, and care deeply about the people I’m entrusted to lead and support.
Finally, I try and get all it all done in a way that excites and inspires those around me. This is all meant to be fun, after all.
