Tech Product Manager at Avask
"Why do people do what they do?" I've been chasing that question my whole career. Same question works on systems and companies: what are people actually rewarded for here, and why does that keep producing this outcome? Most product problems are incentive problems wearing a costume.
What I'm good at naturally: seeing how the pieces of a system fit together and where the pressure is really coming from. Taking a mess and turning it into something you can act on by Friday. Translating technical work for people who don't want a technical answer, and business context for engineers who think they don't need one.
Experience: started as a software engineer at Optum (UnitedHealth Group), became a tech lead, then a PM. Five years there building an enterprise API marketplace and an LLM support agent. Then a banking PM role at NatWest, an MBA at Warwick, compliance product work at Avask, and a stretch at Antler building an AI venture, where I spoke to 50+ people across orgs about how they were actually using AI versus how they said they were.
What I can help with:
Breaking into PM, including from engineering How to think about AI for your org, team, or product, without the theatre Go-to-market: who you're selling to and why they'd bother switching Reading the system you work in: incentive
