About Ali Irawan
CTO at Cata (cata.sg)
I bring 23+ years of experience in teaching programming, software engineering, and software architecture. My journey spans multiple disciplines:
7 years in education and training – teaching programming and delivering corporate training for professionals.
9 years in software engineering & architecture – designing and building ERP, WMS, POS, and mobile commerce systems, both on-premises and cloud-based.
Startup & leadership experience – since 2019, I’ve been deeply involved in fast-paced startups. I founded Grosenia, a B2B eCommerce platform for electronics, and later took on senior leadership roles in scaling technology teams and platforms.
Head of Engineering APAC (Nov 2020 – Mar 2024) at Flash Coffee – a tech-enabled coffee chain, where I led engineering teams to deliver scalable systems supporting operations across Asia.
Current role (since Apr 2024) – CTO at Cata, a SaaS company building white-label mobile apps for F&B brands. We power mobile ordering, loyalty systems, and back-office operations across Asia and Europe, integrating with leading POS and payment providers.
What I care about
I’m passionate about:
Building high-performance teams with a culture of ownership and collaboration.
Modernizing legacy systems into modern, cloud-native, API-driven platforms.
Driving developer velocity through automation, AI-powered workflows, and code quality practices.
Aligning engineering with product to create meaningful business impact.
