Working in the data platform team. The team manages Hadoop (HDFS) infrastructure across Uber.
Responsible for:
1. Infrastructure automation: Ensure that HDFS control-plane runs smoothly on the orchestration system, build automation to reduce manual interventions.
2. Manage cluster availability: Ensure that clusters are highly available and don't degrade in performance.
3. Cloud migration: Uber moving its infra/storage to cloud is a company-wide initiative. We ensure that the storage equivalent in the cloud gives the same or better experience to batch/realtime data users as on-prem HDFS.
4. Hiring and mentoring: Actively participates in interviewing and mentoring fellow engineers.
