Kolena is a SaaS platform that supports evaluating dataset quality and model evaluation for any machine learning + AI use case. I was the only designer at this fast-growing early stage startup.

· Led a rapid iteration-driven design process for the overhaul of their V1 platform based on customer feedback and changing business needs.

· Collaborated closely with product, data science, engineering, and customer success teams for the design of key initiatives such as free trial support, easier-to-use reporting, better data visualizations, and incorporating natural language search/annotations across the platform.

· Partnered with front-end engineering to improve the usability of our established component library patterns and create new, extensible patterns for current and future needs.

Chronosphere is an observability platform capable of ingesting & reporting on millions of data points a second. The complexity of the space - not to mention the sheer scale of data we were working with - led to some tricky design challenges.

· Led design efforts for a fast-paced experimental team, delivering rapid design iterations and prototypes to enhance the functionality of the observability platform.

· Conducted extensive persona research with both internal and external stakeholders, resulting in highly regarded personas that served to guide product and engineering planning and discussion.

· Collaborated closely with front-end engineers to rapidly iterate and improve upon key data visualizations, including a service map topology view and critical dashboard annotations.

· Mentorship of junior designers on the team and onboarded new members of a rapidly-growing team.

Alyce is a corporate gifting platform tool that helps sales teams and marketing teams book meetings and build relationships with prospects.

· Addressed and overcame several user interface and backend limitations caused by rapid-fire pivots during the course of the pandemic, resulting in a more cohesive and usable platform.

· Designed, prototyped, tested, and launched new functionality that significantly improved gifting efficiency and helped reduce churn with customers facing adoption issues.

· Collaborated closely with engineering to implement design enhancements across the platform with each functional release.

· Streamlined and enhanced internal administrative tooling for better ease-of-use and increased productivity for our enablement- and customer support teams.

· Led research and design thinking projects to guide the company's strategic direction during a pivotal phase of the pandemic.

· Successfully managed and guided an overseas contractor in building a new design system in Figma.

Octopoda Collective is a cross-functional, talented group of experienced creative, engineering, and scientist freelancers & consultants who onboard fast, are great team members/collaborators, and deliver high-quality work.

Over the years I've watched my clients struggle to find the talent they need in a timely fashion, and also received lots of requests for trusted referrals - so I founded the Collective as a way to boost some of the amazing folks I've met and worked with and (hopefully) create more opportunities to work together again!

The Collective is *not* a staffing service, an agency, a dev shop, or a for-profit lead-gen service - we're just a group of friends who wanted to share our hard-earned experience (for less than the cost of a conventional agency).

Campus Insights specializes in Gen Z and Millennial user research. They help companies understand what individuals candidly think about products and brands by conducting remote and in-person interviews, usability testing, and focus groups around the world.

Ultimately their work has helped companies increase onboarding conversion rates, improve user retention, and modify value propositions and brand messaging to drive more growth.

I owned design for BitSight's two product lines, and consulted on data design for Anubis (subsidiary). I also collaborated with a small team to launch an entirely new product built atop network graphs, and designed new patent-pending interactions that made complex relationships accessible to non-technical users

Besides that, I contributed to company culture and office design, led interesting projects to fruition, and built relationships with the local tech community.

I instructed/mentored students in design, front-end development, and product management on an ongoing basis.

I have also helped with major revisions to the Product/Design Track curriculum, including creation of lesson plans for instructors and changes/new content for student labs and intensives.

My clients have hired me to:

· Quickly transform ideas into wireframes & prototypes that demonstrate functionality for sales calls, VC pitches, or engineering

· Tackle thorny problems (complex workflows, lots of data, niche industries) resulting in attractive, usable, powerful dashboards and tools

· Maximize conversion by addressing points of friction and cleaning up their copywriting

· Uncover & fix major usability issues that are frustrating customers (and their support team)!

· Transform clunky onboarding experiences to smooth & informative workflows their customers "get"

· "Keeping the lights on" by doing design and/or managing hiring for early-stage startups or companies who are in-between designers

· Mentorship of junior designers & PMs

· Build more trust and improve inclusivity - both within user interfaces as well as for/between internal teams

My clients like working with me because I ramp up fast (no hand-holding needed), I'm transparent at every step of the way, and I'm flexible to meet you wherever you are with your budget, your technical capabilities, and your deadlines.

I work both in-person and remotely, and have primarily engaged with teams in North America, South America, and Europe.

Worried about finding someone who can grok your unique business or vision?
One of my FAVORITE parts of my job is how I'm constantly learning about new industries, and over the last decade I have accumulated experience designing for B2C, B2B, B2B2C in spaces like enterprise cybersecurity, wearables/IoT, energy efficiency, restaurant/service industry, gig economy, developer tools, HR/finance software, inbound marketing/social media platforms, A/B (omnichannel) testing platforms, mobile dating apps, sports training, ecommerce websites, cross-platform consumer utilities, insurance/payout remediation, and educational games. I'm always pumped to learn more!

CustomMade is a marketplace connecting artists and craftworkers with consumers looking for custom goods.

· Played a pivotal role in driving a successful company pivot from a portfolio website to a transaction platform, resulting in a 200% increase in site transactions within a week of launch.

· Conducted extensive usability testing and informative interviewing to inform the development of the new platform, leading to improved site usability and guiding a major rebranding effort.

· Led product roadmap and prioritization based on key performance indicators (KPIs), effectively balancing team efforts between platform enhancements and internal operational projects to maximize project creation and conversion.

· Documented use cases and anticipated functionality, while producing wireframes for screens, features, and flows to facilitate swift development.

· Cultivated and maintained strong partnerships with artists and customers.

Also, we were guinea pigs for the first few rounds of Design Sprints cultivated by Google Ventures. :D
