About Arun Kumar Elengovan
Director, Engineering Security at Okta, Inc.
Every career is a journey, and mine has been about building trust in a digital world that is constantly evolving. I started as an engineer passionate about solving hard security problems and went on to lead global teams as Director of Security Engineering at Okta, where we protect identities for millions of users worldwide. Along the way, I have pioneered initiatives in cryptographic agility, automated secrets management, ephemeral certificates, and AI powered threat modeling, all aimed at making security invisible yet deeply effective.
Beyond the day to day, I have served as a judge for over 200 technical papers, contributed to prestigious journals, and shared my expertise as a Forbes Technology Council member, Gartner Information Security Ambassador, and a Fellow of BCS. Mentoring and coaching have been central to my journey, helping engineers, managers, and students connect technical depth with strategic impact.
At its heart, my story is about curiosity, innovation, and a belief that security should enable, not obstruct. I hope to pass that mindset on to the next generation of builders and leaders.
