About Ashley W
Senior Product Designer at Mailchimp
I first learned about UX design while g at an ad agency as a junior designer. I sat next to a UX designer who was working on things I had never heard of: user flows, customer journeys, and wireframes. I was uncertain what any of this meant then, so I eavesdropped in on their conversations 👀and took their recommendations for books & classes.
As I soaked up more about the UX discipline and peppered my deskmate to death with questions, I also sought out opportunities to help him and his team by taking on practicing responsive UI design. Although this was only one component of UX and product design, it was enough for me to be in love with the idea of designing something good and useful for humans. I stepped out of the agency world and into the start-up world to get experience working in UX and learn everything from the ground up.
I appreciate designs that doesn’t make you think too much, make it easier for those with cognitive disabilities, and allow people to go back to enjoying their lives outside of tech.
What else? I’m really into cycling, going to see live music, comedy, drawing, and meeting new people and learning their stories. So if you want to chat with me, schedule some time!
