UX Researcher at Insurance
I am here because I love talking to people about both breaking into the field of user experience research as well as the practice of it. I remember my own journey and struggles to break into the UX field. Talking to people already practicing or those who were more senior to me was beyond helpful. I want to also now be someone that can:
Help new UX researchers figure out their early career goals Brainstorm ideas of how people's existing experience translates to a UX research role Review resumes, portfolios, and other job search materials Discuss job search strategies Talk through some approaches to challenges they may encounter in the workplace Act as a sounding board for anyone who needs another set of eyes for a UX research-related problem
A little bit about my own experience: I have worked in tech for over 9 years in multiple capacities I have worked as a UX Researcher officially for over 5 years at both corporations and start-ups I am a mixed-methods researcher - responsible for end to end research, planning research road maps, mentoring younger researchers, and working with Product to set the overall product roadmap I did not go to either university or a boot camp-style program to learn UX - but rather learned on the job I studied creative writing in undergrad, which is helpful for telling the story behind the data My decision to get my masters in Scotland may have been influenced by watching Outlander
Please feel free to ping me even if you do not have time to book a session.
“Audra is so helpful. Her attention to detail and willingness to comb through my resume meant I could take detailed notes on how to illustrate my experience. She kept reminding me to show my process, and because of her guidance, it's now clicked for me how to rewrite my resume and case studies.”
“Highly recommend. She was very helpful in discussing her path to UX research and the pros/cons of a career in research.”
“It was great to talk to Audra and learn from her. She was very supportive when giving feedback and sharing her perspective.”
