About Brittany Fialkowski

User Experience Designer at Epic

I went to school to become a High School Business Teacher which required me to take an Intro Computer class. I was so good at the class, I decided to pick up the Minor and became a TA. One of my teachers asked me to work for him as an Assistant Web Developer, and I was even offered to stay after graduation to continue working for the school. Instead, I went to California to freelance Web Design. I later learned during my Master's degree that I was actually freelancing UX Design, but I didn't know what it was. Everything I learned as a responsibility of a UX Designer and Researcher, I was doing by "accident" because it just made sense to do. I sketched out my websites, created competitor analyses, I sought user validation without an ounce of knowledge that there are roles that do that too. I like to say, "I didn't find UX, UX found me."
