About Bryan Sim

Head of Product at Dataro

On the way to getting my PhD in social psychology, I explored careers in data science, science journalism, and UX research. I took part in a few hackathons before discovering that product management was a thing, and it sounded really appealing.

To overcome the "chicken and egg problem", where companies want to hire PMs with experience, but you can't get experience without getting hired, I worked for equity at a tiny company - it was just my founder and I, with a couple of contract engineers - while finishing my dissertation.

I got an offer to work at a business data startup in the Bay shortly after. I spent four years there and was largely responsible for the entire "web" (vs. "email") side of our business - it's funny how work gets divided when you have only two PMs in the company :D

I joined GoFundMe in 2021, and first led the data/machine learning team, followed by the iOS/Android team. During my time there, we brought native video to GoFundMe, enabling organizers to tell their stories across the platform using video.

I'm currently the Head of Product at Dataro, where we use AI/ML to help nonprofits raise more money.

In my free time, I run a lot, play the guitar, and have a cat.
