About Cindy Wang

Senior UX Designer at Nordstrom, xAmazon

I’m a designer with a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction and Design from UC Irvine and a Bachelor’s in Computational Media from Georgia Tech. I currently work at Nordstrom, but was formerly at the Ring subdivision at Amazon and Capital One.

Like many of you, I am also a career switcher. In a past life I worked as an software engineer but found problem solving for people much more fulfilling. I've conducted and written many design and engineering interviews for some of the past companies I've worked at, and am happy to help where I can.

Due to the high number of requests and followup for past mentees, I will try my best to accept requests when I can. If I don't have time to meet, feel free to drop me an email or send a message on Linkedin and I can usually find some resources or write some quick notes.

What mentees say

“Cindy is such a knowledgeable mentor. She provided insightful feedback and answers throughout our session, and gave me some great examples/tips on how to make my portfolio stand out to hiring managers. My favorite part of our time together was her “spicy” questions, which really made me think about the work I was presenting.”

Caroline Padilla, Product Designer at Next Step Academics

“I enjoyed the mentor session with Cindy. She is amazing and passionate! Cindy shared her career experiences and some career shifting advice with me. We discussed the roles of being a product designer and UX designer. She also gave me insights of being a “Problem Solver” UX designer. Big thanks to Cindy! I greatly appreciated it :)”

Ivana, Product Designer at Inmar Intelligence

“Down to earth, empathetic and strategic, Cindy is a thoughtful mentor who explains the "why" of every action and tip she shares. Her advice on how to stand out as a bootcamp grad showed me what a hiring manager is thinking about when looking at portfolios and what needs to be communicated and proved in an interview setting.”
