Design career path

As UX Designer at Amazon Alexa Shopping, my mission consists on radically simplify Human-Computer Interaction.

Using innovative devices such as the Amazon Echo (Alexa) and my knowledge on Conversational User Interfaces, I create better shopping experiences for our customers.

"The best way to predict the future is to invent it." - Alan Kay

As UX Architect and for two incredible years, I created world-class experiences for many top brands such as Coutts, Nike, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Sports, Volvo, BBC and Delta Airlines.

After six months in this great start-up, I began to drive the UX of all new and already existing products, setting the standards for core UX practices.

Working closely with different teams both in London and in Ukraine we developed Mobile Music Apps for companies such as MTV, O2 or Vodafone around the world.

Writing use cases, creating personas, flows, sketches, wireframes (Axure), mockups and prototypes (Invision), for multiple mobile and tablet clients: iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry 10, feature phones...

Conducting research, user-tests on a regular basis, surveys, use of Flurry to capture statistics on the apps, store reviews...

Collaborating closely with business stakeholders (business analysts, product owners, developers, visual designers, clients, including CEO and end users).

Presenting UX design ideas to the teams and leading innovation initiatives in order provide continuous improvements on all apps produced by MusicQubed.

With a twenty-people team in Santander (Spain), 4IKIM goals for 2012 were focused on the creation of a new department with several purposes: In one hand, develop the mobility product strategy. On the other, increase the UX quality across all platforms.

By the setting up of a brand new office in Logrono (Spain), I managed a fantastic four-people team to create the Apps that completed the ecosystem of this collaborative online information management tool.

It was also my first full-time job as a UX Designer, an opportunity that changed my life.

I started at Esidea, a three people Web agency, as a "one-man department", working on customer acquisition, defining mobile marketing campaigns, developing mobile apps (JavaMe, iOS and Layar), invoicing, supporting our clients on press conferences, giving tech talk... you name it.

After five years, I was managing a fantastic 6 people team, we had developed more than 90 mobile apps and become a reference in the mobile marketing sector in our country.

On the IT side, my responsibilities evolved from just development to team and project management and finally UX, supporting in this area the Web team as well.

I also co-supervised different project grades at the University of La Rioja, an activity I continued in the future.

Assigned to the Helicopters Battalion Number 3 (BHELMA III), I was in charge of the unit logistics management via SIGLE, the logistics computer system in the Spanish Army.

I combined this task with other inherent duties in the position, as gunner on a Bell UH-1 Helicopter, but I don't know to what extent this is relevant now as UX Designer :D
