Senior Design Manager at IBM
Hi there! I didn't start out wanting to lead people. I started out loving to create. I’d been in UX, designing software products, then stepped into a design manager role. This move meant relearning everything: I was no longer evaluated on my own designs, but on how well I grew other people.
That transition, from individual contributor (IC) to leading a team, is where I can help you most. I know the identity questions that come up when you're not "the designer" anymore. I know how disorienting the first feedback conversation feels, or advocating for your team instead of your own work.
If you're stepping into design leadership or wondering if it's right for you, let's talk it through. My approach is simple: get it done. Bring something specific, and we'll work on it together.
“I had a wonderful session with Debi! She was incredibly warm and welcoming, and provided thoughtful, actionable feedback on my portfolio. She was very encouraging and easy to talk to, which made the conversation feel natural and comfortable. I really appreciated her insights and advice!”
“Debi helped review my portfolio, and her deep subject knowledge provided invaluable insights that truly elevated my work. Debi's motivation and problem-solving abilities inspired me to think critically and creatively.”
“Debi was so encouraging. She really loves what she does, and takes the time to be candid, thorough, and helpful.”
