Gabrielle Merite (she/her) is a French-born designer based in Los Angeles where she runs her design studio Figures&Figures, specializing in creative data storytelling for changemakers.
Gabrielle uses data as a tool for change — empowering teams at Deloitte Insights or Pivotal Ventures with data visualization guidelines and creating data-driven impact campaigns and tools for the United Nations, the World Bank, and the Environmental Defense Fund.
Beyond this, Gabrielle seeks to influence the field of information design and help others succeed, as a design mentor at the Elevate Data Visualization Community. There, she teaches processes like “Finding your Style” and “How to write a Data Story” for 100+ entry- to senior-level information designers.
Outside of teaching, Gabrielle is also on the Data Analytics & visualization program board at MICA.
As a passionate designer and former scientific journalist, she believes in designing for social change.

“It was wonderful to meet with Gabrielle! We discussed how to improve my work to better appeal to the companies I'd love to work for in the future. The discussion had a great balance between encouraging and actionable feedback. Once I've taken these steps to implement the feedback I look forward to touching base with her again.”
“I had a session with Gabrielle and she was simply amazing. She was very knowledgable in the topics we discussed and was able to provide me with very helpful guidance. My goal was to learn and potentially brainstorm on some of the questions I had, but I was able to achieve a lot more in just one session with her.”
“Gabrielle helped me clarify and define my own path in terms of working on side projects, decision making at work and activities to help me find my own personal brand. I found her approach to listen and provide feedback by giving examples and how I would apply it in my own situation. I am lucky to found her as a mentor who I closely align my interests with especially in designing dataviz.”
