Data Engineering Manager at Seedfi
Hi, I'm Oluwatobiloba— a Data Engineering Manager with over 6 years of experience building data systems and leading engineering teams in banking and fintech.
I currently lead a data engineering team at SeedFi (The DataSeed Company), a Nigerian fintech lending platform, where I've architected a microservices-based loan engine from the ground up — migrating from a Django monolith to a 7-service FastAPI architecture covering authentication, credit bureau aggregation, credit scoring, underwriting, and audit logging. More recently, I've been building out a Financial Due Diligence Engine that combines rule-based analysis with LLM-powered intelligence to evaluate merchant financial documents at scale.
Before SeedFi, I spent time at Sterling Bank working on enterprise-scale data platforms, fraud detection, and business intelligence — experience that gave me a strong foundation in both the technical and strategic sides of data work. Across my career, I've delivered solutions that generated millions in cost savings and operational improvements, and I've worked the full spectrum from ETL pipelines and data warehouses to executive dashboards and AI/ML implementations.
I have an MBA with an AI specialization at Nexford University, which has me grounded in the business context behind every technical decision.
I mentor because I understand what it takes to build technical depth while developing the business acumen and communication skills that actually accelerate your career. I've led workshops on data engineering best practices, dashboard design, and stakeholder communication, and I write about technical topics on Medium.
I can help you with:
Career transitions into data engineering, analytics, or leadership roles Technical skill development — SQL, Python, FastAPI, Power BI, Azure, data modeling, and microservices architecture Building and scaling data systems — from monoliths to microservices, caching strategies, API integrations AI/ML integration in production systems — practical approaches, not just theory Portfolio and project reviews that make your work stand out Interview preparation — technical rounds, system design, case studies, salary negotiation Resume and LinkedIn positioning for data engineering and leadership roles Navigating the Nigerian/African tech ecosystem and international remote opportunities Stakeholder communication — translating data insights into business language
Whether you're starting your data journey, pushing toward senior or leadership roles, or figuring out how to architect systems that actually scale, I'm here to share what I've learned building in the trenches. Let's work on it together.
“She is an incredibly real and genuine mentor. What stuck with me the most was her advice to focus on the foundation when deciding which tools to use as a beginner in data analyst, so as to not get overwhelmed. She also made me clearly understand skills different industries are looking for right now. She gave me exactly the honest, practical guidance I needed.”
“Thank you very much for giving your time. I learned valuabe new information from you. Hope you have a great weekend.”
“I had a great session with Oluwatobiloba, who provided amazing communication and motivation. Her extensive subject knowledge and exceptional problem-solving skills truly made a difference.
