Aloha! My name is Janet, and my work experience is a mixed digital marketing bag, but currently, I wear many hats as the only full-time marketing professional for a local company on the Big Island of Hawai'i that started 117 years ago as a fish market and has evolved into one of the major wholesale food distributors company on this island. Originally, I have worked for small and large multinational companies from my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, but I moved out here a few years ago with my family where I have the opportunity to grow and learn more about the people, the food, and most importantly, the myriad of cultures that exist here in Hilo, which is a small town, but it is the 2nd largest city within the state of Hawai'i. In my free time, I like to do arts and crafts with my children. Our recent project happened spontaneously after my oldest caught a fish, and we used non-toxic paint to stamp the fish onto rice paper which is a technique and an art form called gyotaku done more than a hundred years ago by Japanese fishermen to measure the fish they caught. Hope we can learn more from each other and grow!
