WORK:

I do B2B growth marketing for startup and scale-up SaaS.

Currently Head of Growth for ContactOut, the world's best source of B2B contact info.

I also coach startups in growth marketing at UNSW and Startmate, and for companies like Canva and Komatsu for Academy Xi.

I've grown four tech companies, including $4.5 billion online education company VIPKid. I also scaled my own SEO SaaS company to $1M in ARR in 2011.

WRITING:

• "Confessions of a Google Spammer," HubSpot Blog

• "Google's Hogging Half Your Traffic: How to Get it Back," SearchEngineJournal
 • "Growth Marketing in 2019," Book on Amazon

PERSONAL INFO

My super power: Leadership and influence. Helping others unblock themselves and find THEIR superpower.

Words of advice I would you give my younger self: Be generous with your money and stingy with your time. Spend most of your thinking on finding your values and aligning your time and money to them. Discover your purpose through structured learning.

The most creative thing I've ever done: Creating a machine learning bot and link creation system that served 1,000 SEO agency customers. Producing an album of music (Run to the Rescue: RTTR.)

Founders or startups I most admire: Irreverent creatives with a wholesome sense of humor and like Sam Cotton, Marc Rebillet, Mark Rober, and Joel Haver.

Words of wisdom I live by: The voice in your head is not you. You're the one listening to it. Weniger aber besser. Docendo discimus. Mens sana in corpore sano.

The aspects of my work I'm most passionate about: Leadership, influence, creativity, growth, and compassion.

The most impactful class I took in school: A Chinese history independent study course taught by Cheryl Barkey at Cabrillo College in '00.

Something I wish you had done years earlier Learned my values backwards and forwards and aligned every minute and dollar spent to them.

An obstacle I've overcome: Being a hyper masculine cis white American man influenced by too many bad '80s movies.

The most useful business-related book I've ever read: Hooked by Nir Eyal. Indistractible by Nir Eyal.

My favorite non-business book: Dune.

If money were not an issue, what I would be doing right now: Traveling Australia in a wifi enabled converted van with my partner and son, learning and mentoring others on how to find their superpower.

OTHER

I ran my first marathon in 2018 and completed the 2019 IRONMAN Triathalon in Geelong, Australia. I've been on a plant-based diet since 2017.
