Hey there, I’m Jess - a Toronto-based product designer with 7+ years of experience. Hailing from a graphic design background, I've worked with small & medium sized start ups and am now at a large global agency.
I've learned a lot from being in both full-time in-house positions and contracting/freelancing roles. You shouldn't be afraid to be flexible with your relationship to work to get what you really want from your career.
Mentorship to me, has always been a really fun, meaningful way of engaging with the design community. It gives me a purpose and fulfilment beyond just the practical act of designing and I would love to share my expertise and help designers more widely.
My strengths are in portfolio reviews and general design/career advice. I've gotten great feedback from my previous mentees with the feedback and advice I've given them helping land a job.
As a queer, non-binary, poc, I would also love to help provide guidance to (and connect with) those with similar identities. Let's chat!
“Loved talking to Jess! They are super approachable, transparent, and encouraging! Looking forward to our next session!”
“Jess is extremely encouraging and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to advice on advancing my career and how to maneuver through the job market. They were very helpful in pointing out ways to stand out as a job applicant and building portfolio case studies as well.”
“Jess is super friendly, and I quickly realized that there are merits to their claim of giving great portfolio feedback to mentees. They were also able to provide me with interesting insights on the current Canadian UX scene and a local platform/community that I was not aware of (I'll gatekeep it for now but feel free to ask them about it) ----- tyyyyyy”
