About Jonathan Barrett

Software Engineering Manager at Relative Sanity

Currently Writer at Relative Sanity and Owner at Fresh Monkey. Previously Engineering Manager at Cleo, Software Engineering Manager at Indeed and Engineering Manager at Indeed Flex. Studied Master in Science MSci Mathematics at University of Glasgow.

I have gathered a wealth of experience over the last 20 years Starting as a solo developer, I covered the whole lifecycle, taking projects from client idea through product ideation, requirements, design, development, delivery, training and maintenance. When I moved focus to software development exclusively, I discovered how many of my fellow coders struggled to see the bigger picture, and so when I moved into management, this was a key coaching pillar for my reports. This in turn led to many promotions and growth into areas my reports would never have considered when we started.

Now, as AI disrupts everything, that "bigger picture" thinking is more relevant than ever, and I'm keen to bring my experience to a wider audience.
