How to think about design career paths and what progression looks like for designers?

Design career path

Established clear and measurable SLOs (Service Level Objectives) to define acceptable performance targets for critical services. Communicated these targets to stakeholders through well-defined SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
Defined relevant SLIs (Service Level Indicators) as quantifiable metrics to track progress towards SLOs. Leveraged these SLIs to proactively monitor service health and identify potential issues before they impact users.
Implemented error budgets to quantify the acceptable amount of deviation from SLOs. Proactively monitored error budgets and triggered alerts upon exceeding them to ensure timely remediation and minimize downtime.
Led and participated in post-mortem analysis of incidents. Contributed to identifying root causes, proposing corrective actions, and implementing preventative measures to minimize future occurrences.

Automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer, streamlining deployments and ensuring consistency.
Simplified container deployments and orchestration by leveraging Rancher for Kubernetes cluster management.
Enhanced system scalability and resilience by deploying and managing applications in both Kubernetes and Docker environments.
Implemented robust monitoring and logging solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, FluentBit, New Relic, and the ELK stack. This facilitated faster incident detection and resolution, improving overall service health.
Automated the deployment and configuration of a Kafka cluster using Rancher, Terraform, and Ansible, demonstrating expertise in distributed streaming platforms.
Configured Azure Traffic Manager for multi-region availability of Kubernetes clusters. This achievement showcases the ability to build highly available and fault-tolerant containerized applications on Azure.

Leveraged experience with automation and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, Drone CI, and similar solutions to build and manage infrastructure efficiently.
Developed and deployed applications on cloud platforms including Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Designed for observability by implementing modern monitoring, logging, and metrics tools such as Prometheus, New Relic, Grafana, and Fluentd.
Collaborated effectively with team members and fostered a positive, enthusiastic work environment.
Maintained and troubleshooted production environments, demonstrating expertise in UNIX/Linux, including the shell, file systems, networking, and problem-solving.

Designed and implemented highly scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure for internal stakeholders and teams.
Led the architecture design on Azure, utilizing services like Azure Virtual Machines, Azure App Service, and Azure SQL Database.
Successfully migrated a complex on-premises application to Azure using Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery, ensuring minimal downtime and a smooth transition.
Collaborated with developers and operations teams to define infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, promoting consistency and repeatability in deployments.
Optimized existing Azure environments by leveraging Azure Cost Management and Azure Advisor to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement resource optimization strategies.
Delivered technical presentations and workshops on Azure best practices and new features for internal stakeholders and clients.

Designed and configured Docker Swarm clusters on Azure VMs using Resource Manager templates and Azure CLI.
Developed Terraform configurations to provision and manage Azure resources including virtual networks, subnets, storage accounts, and virtual machines.
Built Docker images for microservices applications and pushed them to a private container registry.
Defined Docker Swarm services and deployments to orchestrate containerized application lifecycle management.
Implemented service discovery and load balancing within the Docker Swarm cluster for high availability.
Configured monitoring and logging solutions for the Docker Swarm cluster and applications with prometheus and grafana.
Performed infrastructure and application rollbacks in case of deployment issues.
Maintained infrastructure and application documentation, including Terraform configurations and Dockerfiles.
