About Kara McMurray

UX Designer at HCSS

Hey there! I'm Kara, a seasoned UX designer with over 7 years of diverse industry experience. Throughout my career, I've worked with startups, Fortune 5 and 100 companies, consultant agencies, mid-size firms, and smaller enterprises. My expertise spans overseeing UX for intricate, policy-bound products across technical domains such as Maritime, Security, Construction, and Medical Devices.

Half of my journey has been navigating solo UX designer roles, where I've successfully advocated for UX in environments unfamiliar with product and UX strategy.

During my journey, I also worked as a part-time UX instructor, where I taught User Experience to professionals making the transition into UX from other careers.

I have a passion for mentoring junior designers and individuals shifting into UX from other careers.

Here's how I can support you: Ensuring Company Fit Enhancing your UX skill set Facilitating Design Workshops Interview Coaching Reviewing Portfolios and Case Studies Thriving as a solo UX designer Collaborating with development/product teams new to UX principles

Let's connect and explore how we can elevate your UX journey together!
