I mentor UX Design students through achievements, portfolio development, resume creation and career planning.

In my books, courses and coaching programs I guide new freelancers and consultants step-by-step through starting a business, building a brand, finding clients and staying focused.

As a principal designer, I created prototypes, wireframes, user flows and iterative feature comps for the entire MVP Alma learning management and student information platform, developed the design system, worked with the product team on strategy, mentored and provided creative direction for freelancers and designed the first version of the getalma.com marketing site.

graphAlchemist.com beautifully visualizes how people, places and things are connected, providing context to information. As UX Lead, I designed the initial prototype and beta products for a network graph visualizer, conducted user interviews, collaborated on corporate strategy and oversaw engineering development, as well as developing all marketing materials and the corporate website. 

We also participated in the Portland Seed Fund accelerator where I collaborated on company and funding strategy, including pitch deck development and product road map creation.

From responsive websites that convert to fully-featured SaaS & EdTech platforms, I transform ideas into beautiful, user-focused designs. Notable clients include Microsoft, Etsy, Medable, Carnegie Learning, PopCap, Compass,  & Esteem Therapeutics.

Hired to analyze more than 500 pages of retail audit data to identify trends and opportunities for Windows Phone OS 8 global launch, I also researched mobile trends, developed a competitive analysis of all major mobile operating systems and ultimately delivered a long-term retail strategy plan for WPOS and the Microsoft 4-screen advantage (Windows Phone, Xbox, Tablets and PC). I also worked directly with the VP of Design to develop brand strategy, craft positioning statements, create personas and direct programs for a variety of clients including Microsoft, BP, the American Association of Museums and New Balance.

Designed all creative materials including logos, direct mail, packaging, advertisements, uniforms, menus, as well as generated brand and comprehensive marcom strategy for two new restaurant chains, and managed 45 marketing projects to completion in five months.

Designed and managed six web and mobile products through engineering and marketing, including a groundbreaking HTML5 iPhone app, and oversaw execution of two commercial websites in 30 days, increasing engagement by 10% and conversion by 5%.

Interfaced with worldwide team to build product launch campaigns  for startup mobile cloud technology. Partnered with Director on business planning, market research & opportunity assessment for, conducted marketing and competitive research to identify opportunities and develop use-case scenarios for new product and worked in conjunction with RIM and FedEx to plan launch events. Published white-paper for distribution at Mobile World Congress.
