Moving to Canada from Kazakhstan, I wanted to become a film director. Product design wasn't an option because I simply didn't know that such a job exists. It all happened accidentally when I was offered to redesign the university website, and as someone who knew absolutely nothing about it, I had to say yes.
Today I am a founding designer in two startups with over 6 years of experience in the product field. Previously I have overseen the design of large-scale products like Hootsuite. What I want to do next is to be that design friend I wish I had when I was breaking into the industry. Someone who can explain all the nooks and crannies while not being pretentious about it, because let's face it, a lot of people are.
