About Lennon Cheng

Product Designer at Canva

Howdy Lennon here šŸ‘‹ I am a product designer at Canva. My team focuses on product wide filtering and search experience plus some AI things at the moment.

--- Let's chat about:

šŸ‘‰ What you are working on šŸ‘‰ Your portfolio, resume and interview šŸ‘‰ Working at an agency or a product company šŸ‘‰ Breaking into design as an international student + someone who speaks English as a second language šŸ‘‰ Handover design to an engineer šŸ‘‰ Design documentation and Notion šŸ‘‰ Burnout

--- šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø A bit more about myself

I was born in China and landed in Australia 11 years ago, and now call Melbourne my home.

My experience of being an international student and working at several fast pace agencies have allowed me to grow as a generalist and gain a lot of empathy for fellow students, designers and friends who speaks English as their second language. I have also been venturing into 2 product companies (Xero and Canva), which enable me to hone in more on design system and dig in deeper with search and filtering.

Outside of 9 to 5, I have been running a Mandarin-speaking podcast for queer folks with my best friend for the past 2 years. I have two rescued cats, Chipper (in my profile photo) and Sesame (often hiding), you might catch them on camera!
