UX Researcher and Designer at Amurabi & Fair Patterns
I'm mara, a lesbian/non-binary UX designer originally from the USA and working in France. Currently, I am a researcher and designer with a focus on human-centric practices within the field of legal design and AI innovation. I work fully remote for start-ups.
I strive to help marginalised people navigate the industry. I especially enjoy helping students and/or people who are transitioning into a new industry find their footing. I love networking and connecting people with individuals or accessible resources that will help them on their way.
Looking for a stress-free, low-key chat? My pillars of communication are that we respect each other's experiences and backgrounds, knowing we can all continously learn from the perspectives of others.
For 2 years, I founded and produced a niche LGBTQ artists magazine, and have experience across multiple creative skills from being self-taught. I have participated in many industries, from specialty coffee to big box retail, and positions such as retail buyer to sales and training. I have also worked as a server, barista, front-of-house clerk... we all start somewhere!
Outside of design, I am a certified yoga teacher, avid cook, and massive reader. Not sure how to start the conversation? Let's talk about what we are reading!
βMara was incredibly friendly, and I truly appreciated her encouragement as I navigate my job search. She offered valuable tips and pointers for my portfolio, and I really enjoyed our conversation.β
βI had a good brainstorming session with Mara, and she brought to my attention several critical points to work on. Looking forward to another session with Mara!β
