Software Engineer at Moneygate Solutions Limited
I’m Marilyn, a software engineer working in fintech, where I build things with .NET and figure out how all the moving pieces fit together. Outside of work, I’m usually building something of my own, because I learn best by making something real.
But a big part of what I care about goes beyond writing code.
I’m involved in the developer community through GDG Cyprus and WomenTechmakers, where I help organize events and support new speakers. My first talk was at DevFest Cyprus, and that experience pulled me into the community in a way I never expected.
I also write One Engineer to Another, a newsletter about the human side of engineering. The self-doubt, second-guessing, pressure to have everything figured out, and all the things we rarely talk about.
That’s also what I bring into mentoring. I’ve mentored people on C# and .NET, supported friends through career decisions and job searches, and been a mentee myself. I know how valuable it is to have someone who takes the time to understand where you are and where you want to go.
I want to be that person for someone else. Mentoring isn’t about having all the answers. Sometimes, having someone a little further along who listens, asks the right questions, and shares what they’ve learned is enough to make the next step feel clearer. :)
“I had 2 session with Marilyn, who truly exceeded my expectations. Her amazing communication and knowledge inspired me to enhance my skills and CV. She motivated me to persevere and positively impacted my mindset. If you’re looking for a mentor who excels in problem-solving and motivation, you should contact her.”
“Marilyn helped me understand better how I can cope with burn out, and relating to a different topic, she shared experiences she had that made me feel seen and validated.”
