About Marta Smigielska

Senior Technical Product Manager at Expana

I'm a Senior Technical Product Manager with 10+ years in tech, working across data, API and AI products. I have 200h+ experience coaching and mentoring.

I started my career as a software engineer and made a conscious move into product. I bring technical depth into everything I do – from hands-on data analysis, AI prototyping, to roadmaps and commercial strategy.

I hold an ICF ACC coaching credential and a PGDip in Applied Neuroscience from King's College London, which shapes how I work with people: a supportive, trust-based space, with real hands-on product and engineering experience.

What we might work on: Making sense of the technical landscape – AI, data, APIs – and how to operate with authority in it as a PM

Learning hard skills as a PM: data analysis, SQL, Python, AI tools, Claude Code, and more

Working with technical stakeholders: building trust, navigating friction, getting heard

Career transitions: moving between roles in tech and product, engineer to PM, IC to lead

Interview prep, mock interviews, CV prep, and landing your next role

The real-life stuff: a challenging stakeholder situation, a decision you keep putting off, a conversation you're avoiding, holding up under pressure when everyone's watching

Sessions with Marta Smigielska

  • General Product & Tech Career Mentoring (30 min): A focused 30-minute mentoring session tailored to your goals. Whether you need career advice, interview preparation, product management guidance, technical concepts explained, or help solving a challenge at work, we'll use the time to tackle the topics that matter most to you.
  • Essential Technical Skills for Product Managers (45 min): Choose any 3 session topics to build the technical and analytical knowledge every Product Manager needs to work confidently with engineers, data, and AI. Alternatively, you can suggest your own prefered topics for our sessions. Topic options include: (1) Tech Foundations for PMs (frontend, backend, databases, cloud, and system architecture); (2) APIs & Integrations (REST APIs, API documentation, authentication, and integrations); (3) Data for Product Managers (SQL, product metrics, data models, and analysis with Python and AI); (4) AI for Product Managers (LLMs, prompt engineering, and prototyping with Claude Code); (5) Software Delivery (Agile, Git, testing, deployments, and the software development lifecycle); (6) Technical Decision Making (technical trade-offs, scalability, performance, technical debt, and product decisions).
  • Managing Stress at Work – based in Neuroscience (30 min): Stress at work is real, but a lot of what gets recommended to manage it is either oversimplified or not well supported by evidence. In this session we look at what the neuroscience actually tells us about stress, performance and regulation – what helps, what doesn't, and why. Drawing on my PGDip in Applied Neuroscience from King's College London and my ICF ACC coaching practice, I'll help you understand what's happening when you're under pressure, identify what's actually useful for your specific situation, and build a practical and honest approach to managing stress. It will be grounded in evidence, tailored to your context, and I promise I won't tell you to just breathe more.

What mentees say

“The session was very helpful and practical. We discussed my CV, the current Product Management job market, and ways to better position my experience. I received clear, actionable feedback and useful advice on what to improve in my job search.”

Adam Kmiecik, Product Manager at Comarch
