About Matt Johnston

Ex-Head of Product Design & Research at Zoom

Hey there! I'm Matt, a designer and design leader who's been in the product design world for over 15 years now. I've had the chance to work on some pretty fun stuff — from helping millions of people connect on Zoom as the Head of Design, to making it easier for folks to binge their favorite shows on Netflix, and even building a boat rental marketplace with a startup called Boatbound.

After a whirlwind few years at Zoom, I decided to take a breather. Now, I'm doing freelance work and have time to mentor others.

If you're looking for someone to bounce ideas off of, I'm here to help. I've been through the ups and downs of product design, wrestled with tricky projects, and navigated the sometimes bumpy road from designer to leader. So if you're stuck on a design problem, trying to figure out if leadership is for you, or just want to chat about building your career in the tech world, let's talk.
