My route to User Research started with graduating from college with a B.A in Psychology. While in college, I spent time conducting research in multiple different sub-fields of psychology and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in applied research.

Soon after graduating, I started a graduate degree in Human Factors Psychology at Georgia Tech. However, I realized soon after that I was passionate about User Research, and transferred into a M.S. Human-Computer Interaction program. Within that program, I was able to learn the fundamentals of user research, product management and design. I also gained experience mentoring and teaching others while being an active teaching assistant.

While in the program, I interned at Yahoo as a User Researcher, where I gained experience running foundational research around Emerging Products. Upon graduating, I accepted a full-time role as a User Researcher in January 2017 and spent ~3.5 years supporting various teams, including Yahoo Sports & Yahoo News.

In August of 2020, I transitioned to Instacart's UX Research team, where I'm currently a Senior User Researcher supporting the "Buy" team which includes research on Instacart during and post-checkout.

I'm passionate about helping others understand the UX Research area, what it takes to be a successful UX-er, or answer any questions about breaking into research within industry. Coming from an academic background within research, I also can share insight to those thinking of pursuing various research careers.
