About Maxene Graze
Senior Data Visualization Engineer at King
Hi, I’m [Your Name], a data designer and Senior Data Visualization Engineer at King. My background in biological and linguistic research gave me an eye for the messy origins of data—how it’s collected, where it’s biased, and how it can be shaped into something meaningful. My mission is to make data more accessible, intuitive, and yes, a little more playful.
I love bringing an interdisciplinary twist to my work, whether it’s crafting Microbial Symphony (a multisensory project that turned microbial data into sound and visuals) or consulting for the World Health Organization to help design their data visualization system. I also help maintain the Data Visualization Style Guide, where I dive into the nitty-gritty of creating consistent and impactful visuals.
Beyond work, I’m all about weaving data into my hobbies. I’ve made data pottery to explore ratios for making miso, tracked my Japanese language progress and made my own personal dashboard, and even used sonification to give the world's ferments a voice. Teaching is another passion of mine—I’ve run workshops for King, Information is Beautiful, and MICA to help others find their footing (and flair) in data storytelling.
At the end of the day, I’m driven by a love of connecting data with human experiences—turning numbers into stories that people can see, hear, and feel.
