• Summary: Reporting to the COO, I built and led the design team, driving a strategy at the intersection of biometrics, AI, and behavioral design, which resulted in a 300% boost in daily active users.

• Impact: Improved customer satisfaction score to 91%, achieved a 4/5 rating on Apple Store, increased subscription intent, and effectiveness perception. Helped secure a partnership with IBM to provide mental health services to 19M veterans in the US.

• Execution: Launched the next-gen product MVP in six months using Lean UX and Agile. Delivered Synapse design system, and its counterpart, Neuron Next, a React/React Native component library. This dual approach ensured seamless integration across design and development and the execution of the redesign within 36 months across web, iOS, and Android.

I am proud to have advocated for talented individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and played a role in hiring the company's first black employee.

• Summary: Reporting to the Retail GM, I built the design team responsible for envisioning the future of TiVo, known as the Mavrik/Mantis project.

• Impact: Increased online sales by 8% after the redesign of the e-commerce experience. Developed design concepts aimed to build a new media ecosystem through partnerships with Amazon, Roku, and others –which paved the way for the acquisition of TiVo by Rovi Corp.

• Execution: Hired IDEO and Accenture Digital to accelerate TiVo’s innovation program. Institutionalized Design Thinking across the retail organization with the introduction of cross-functional design sprints ahead of agile product increments.

• Led the team responsible for designing the next-gen experience of WD My Cloud™ –at the time, a hardware juggernaut that lagged behind in design excellence. Our designs, independently benchmarked by UserZoom, proved to be easier to use –with a SUS score of 86– than its competitors: Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive (scoring 82, 78, 74 respectively).

• Introduced a flat organizational model, a new design language, advanced prototyping tools (e.g. framer), and a streamlined process which included –at least– one UX research study every week.

• Institutionalized weekly design reviews with the dev and product teams to drive collaboration, engagement, and excitement around our Cloud 2.0 design strategy.

• Hired Raja J. from the Microsoft team to lead our UX research competency. Signed a contract with UserZoom to bring their world-class research platform, and consulting resources to evaluate impartially the quality of our proposed designs.

• While nurturing a passionate culture of design-driven innovation, explored the opportunity to transform the WD TV Media Player into MyCloud TV, an entertainment ecosystem that seamlessly integrated a variety of existing WD products and services.

• Built, led, and mentored the UX architecture team to support the CHASE omnichannel experience redesign. Championed cohesion and excellence in UX design by developing the first design system at JPMorgan Chase. Defined every component for iOS, android, and web, and made them available to the growing number of designers being hired (400+).

• Envisioned the future of banking in a two-year partnership with Frog design, shaping Chase as an innovation-driven organization under the leadership of Mike Yurochko.

• As the android expert in residence, I assessed and oversaw the redesign of the android Chase app. I joined the scrum team to improve the entire customer journey (from authentication to quick deposits).

• Built a device lab for the design team to learn, test, and iterate their designs throughout the creative process.

• Led the Frontdoors design team, responsible for the design and maintenance of Yahoo! homepage, serving a global audience of 340M unique visitors.

• Conducted systematic A/B tests to optimize the conversion of every component of the homepage. 13M different versions of the homepage were deployed to a third of our users. Every 5 minutes the best performers were chosen among 45,000 versions.

• Redesigned the first Yahoo! homepage optimized for the iPad. Designed its first video modules showcasing Yahoo! Original TV shows.

• Hired by SVP, Head of Digital Channels to take US Bank website and its mobile apps to the next level. After the redesign, US Bank was nominated for a Webby Award and achieved the third-highest score in the 2011 Forrester review of US financial experiences. US Bank always had scored at, or near, the bottom of the rankings.

• Reorganized the design practice and grew the team in size, scope and impact. Built two multi-disciplinary teams of 36 designers in Minneapolis, and San Francisco.

• Led four teams of interaction designers (Singapore, Shanghai, San Diego, and Seattle ), tasked with creating an ecosystem of apps, websites, and web-connected devices for Hewlett-Packard IWS division.

• Drove the creation of enterprise-scale processes to collaborate efficiently across studios. Formulated a coherent design language –based on reusable components– that set the bar for the quality of execution across IWS.

• Aligned IWS interaction design efforts with HP design language, and standards to drive the institutionalization of design at a company level.

• Led a successful redesign of monster.com in 50+ countries in only 11 months. Promoted as Global UX Director and relocated to Boston from Europe. In the US, the new design improved conversion by 40%, driving 20M more job searches than its predecessor. It also received a Webby Award, and was case studied by Forrester in 2009: “Firms can learn from Monster’s example: how to put the focus on their customers, develop a user-centered organization, and establish processes that go beyond a short-term redesign”.

• Awarded with the 2005 N/N Design Annual (referred to as "The Academy Awards for Intranets”) by Jakob Nielsen and Don Norman.

• Set up the first in-house UX Design organization at Banesto / Santander –the largest bank in Europe by market capitalization at the time.

• Scaled the team across several geographic locations including Madrid, and London. Hired/relocated, and set up the design team based in Triton Square, London after the acquisition of Abbey National Bank.

• Created the standards for experience design (cartografía), reusable components (Mira UI components), and design principles behind Banksphere, the official application development environment of the Santander group.

• Created Santander's first design language aimed at simplifying and harmonizing the user interfaces of a wide variety of entities under the Santander umbrella: Banesto, Totta, Abbey National Bank, Openbank, Santander Consumer Bank, and Sovereign Bank in the US.

• Collaborated with all leaders reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, to leverage all technical platforms (Partenon, Alhambra, etc.) in the realization of the customer experience.

• Established trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.

• Helped launch DareStep in 2000, a web agency within Cap Gemini Ernst & Young with a creative team of 450 people in 8 countries.

• Delivered a wide range of user-centered solutions for financial websites (Lloyds TSB and Barclays), e-commerce sites (Carrefour), sports events (Millennium Marathon), online newspapers (elpais.com), and corporate intranets (Terra, Telefonica).

• Gathered information on user needs and goals from field studies, site visits, market research, and competitive analysis.

• Developed conceptual models, storyboards, scenarios, flowcharts, mockups, and detailed prototypes based on client requirements and UX research.
