I am Peter Boeckel, a Designer, Futurist, and Educator based in San Francisco.
Born and raised in Germany, I pursued a degree in Integrated Product Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Coburg, Bavaria. An internship in Hong Kong sparked my global career, taking me from Hong Kong to Singapore, New York City, and eventually, San Francisco.
With over 15 years of experience and a track record of market success, I have led and built cross-functional design and innovation teams in both start-ups and multinational corporations. My career has spanned various industries, including consumer electronics, furniture, connected fitness devices, and surgical robotics, through roles at companies such as Philips, Steelcase, Peloton, and Intuitive Surgical. My entrepreneurial and visionary spirit enables me to lead and excel beyond the conventional boundaries of design.
As a futurist and educator, I collaborate with universities and institutions to reform and reposition design programs. Driven by the belief that the field of design and its education will undergo significant disruption in the coming decade, I advocate for transforming design education to meet the future talent demands of economies going to shape global dynamics.
