About Rafael Souza

Risk & Insurance Manager - USA, Canada and Argentina at Equinor

I'm a risk and insurance manager in the energy industry, leading programs across the US, Canada and Argentina, with 18 years in energy. I've built my career in large corporate environments in Brazil and the US, so I know how these companies tend to look at candidates and careers.

I came to the US as an immigrant professional, so I know what it takes to make solid experience from another country make sense here: the resume that gets read, the interview style that lands, the first years of "no". I've been a mentor at the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 2019, and before moving I spent several years as a volunteer career mentor at Instituto Bold in Brazil.

I can help with: Resume and LinkedIn for US corporate roles Mock interviews (behavioral, STAR, panel) with direct feedback How US hiring processes work, and how to approach hiring managers Career moves for internationally trained professionals

When you book, send your LinkedIn or resume and a few questions or what would you like to explore. We'll leave with a next step you can act on this week. English or Portuguese.

Sessions with Rafael Souza

  • Moving your career to the US (30 min): For internationally trained professionals planning a move or already in the US. Bring one concrete question: how your experience reads to a US employer, which roles to target, how to approach hiring managers, or what to fix first. We'll leave with a next step you can act on this week.
  • Resume & LinkedIn review for US corporate roles (30 min): Send your resume or LinkedIn and, if possible, one job posting you are targeting. We'll go through it the way a US hiring manager reads it: what stands out in the first seconds, what gets lost, and how to translate experience from another country into terms recruiters search for. You'll leave with a short list of concrete fixes.
  • Mock interview with feedback (45 min): A practice interview run the way a US hiring manager would run it: behavioral questions (STAR), questions about your experience, and the 'tell me about yourself' opener. About 25 minutes of interview without interruptions, then direct feedback on structure, clarity and how your experience comes across, with a retry of the weakest answer. Send the job posting or the role you are preparing for.
