About Rajendra Thakre

Graphic Designer at MIT Institute of Design

Hello Everyone,

I’m Rajendra Thakre, and I’m excited to guide you on your design journey! I have over 24 years of professional experience in the design field and have been a faculty member in the Graphic Design department at MIT Institute of Design for the past 15 years. I specialize in graphic design, typography, type design, and wayfinding systems, with a strong focus on design research and innovation.

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Art with a specialization in Photography, and I’ve recently completed my PhD in Urban Experiential Wayfinding Design. My research dives into understanding and enhancing the way we navigate urban spaces, particularly within the context of Indian cities like Pune.

Beyond academics, I’ve worked on various industry projects, design patents, and educational initiatives. Some of my key contributions include developing an education kit for pre-primary kids to learn regional scripts, managing large-scale university events, and mentoring students on entrepreneurial ventures.

How I Can Help You Skill Development: Whether it’s mastering typography, improving illustration techniques, or learning about design thinking and problem-solving, I’ll provide you with actionable insights and personalized feedback. Guidance in Research & Projects: I’m passionate about helping students write research papers, explore innovative ideas, and work on impactful projects that reflect their individuality. Career Growth: I can support you in shaping your career path, from portfolio building and entrepreneurial advice to applying for prestigious institutions or starting your own ventures. Hands-on Experience: With my background in design events, I’ll create opportunities for you to engage in collaborative projects, workshops, and exhibitions that sharpen your practical skills. My goal is to help you discover your strengths, unlock your creativity, and navigate the design world with confidence. I’m here to answer your questions, provide constructive feedback, and help you grow both professionally and personally.
