Working with engineers

•	Working on facebook's core data next gen pub-sub (change data capture) system a.k.a distrubution layer to stream updates from various data sources to downstream consumers.
•	Worked on facebook's core data wormhole pub-sub distributed system.
•	Worked on WhatsApp Messaging Infra, on the data path for efficient, easy to use and privacy aware abstraction over Facebook storage services for WhatsApp infrastructure needs.

•	Designed and implemented Garbage Collection (GC) algorithm for cloud-tier to reclaim dead space from object store.
•	Designed and Prototyped GC on cloud-tier using Serverless compute from AWS lambda, Azure functions and GCP functions using recipe based cleaning, to save egress cost of object read/write.
•	Designed and implemented fast data movement feature to move files from on-premise Data Domain system to cloud-tier for long term retention, improving migration speeds up to 4x, by converting random I/O to sequential I/O.
•	Designed and implemented end-to-end data integrity and Physical File Verification with GC, which is orders of magnitude faster than the existing file by file verification, which used to lag behind by several months on customer systems.
•	Improved GC performance by 30-40% to meet cleaning requirements for supporting higher capacity platforms.
•	Root caused and fixed several field data corruptions. Implemented tools to recover data and repair metadata to bring it into consistent state.
•	Paper publication and patent disclosures in Deduplication, Garbage Collection, File system

•	Worked on EnhanceIO caching software (open sourced), derived from Facebook's open source Flashcache project. Worked on write back cache feature and enhanced it to enable caching transparent to applications. 
•	sTeC manufactured and shipped PCIe based SSD drives. I was responsible for transferring the ownership of PCIe SSD proprietary driver project from US team to India, investigated the performance bottlenecks and enhanced the driver to improve IOPS on SSD drives.

•	Designed and implemented online migration feature to migrate native file system to Veritas File system (VxFS), with a new vnode/VFS layer to intercept all vnode operations on native file system and route it to both the file systems.
•	Worked on R/W path improvements in file system. Debugged, root caused and fixed bugs in various features of VxFS, like quotas, snapshots, etc. and delivered customer patches on AIX platform.
