I earned a PhD in Experimental Psychology, focused on Developmental research, but knew pretty early on I didn't want a career in academia. I spent my grad years exploring other options, but not really knowing what I wanted. I was hired by my current company for a UX research role after interviewing at a conference in the field. This position turned out to be an amazing fit for me, and I've gained so many skills in my 5 years around UX design/product design, not just research! My role requires me to collaborate with many different disciplines within the company. I am happy to connect and share my experiences around looking for industry jobs after grad school, not knowing what you want to do, advocating for yourself, and experiences in an industry role as a former-academic, or otherwise!
