About Rob Nastos

Lead Designer at Tennis Australia

A Product Design Leader with over 12 years in complex transactional and marketplace platforms.

Helping designers reach their potential. I've hired, coached and developed designers through the full arc โ€“ finding genuine confidence in their decisions, mastering stakeholder management, and presenting work in ways that make the business listen. Learning to lead a room and move it is a skill in itself, and it's one I love teaching.

Sessions with Rob Nastos

  • General Mentorship Session (60 min): This session invites an open dialogue centered around your current challenges and aspirations. Whether you're contemplating a career transition, navigating a complex project, or feeling uncertain about your design approach, this is a space for exploration and growth. We can discuss how to elevate your role, whether you are transitioning from mid-level to senior or moving into leadership, and address the intricacies of stakeholder management to ensure your voice is heard in the business landscape. You will benefit from insights on fostering confidence in your design decisions and strategies for defending your ideas amid scrutiny. We can also delve into enhancing your portfolio and CV to effectively showcase your work and achievements. If you have a project that feels unglamorous or complex, weโ€™ll work together to find ways to present it compelling ways.
  • Portfolio Review (60 min): Want a hiring manager's perspective on your portfolio? I've hired designers, sat on the other side of the review and built design teams from the ground up. I know what makes a reviewer keep scrolling, and what makes them close the tab. In this session we'll go through your portfolio the way a hiring manager actually does. What lands in the first thirty seconds. Where the story loses them. Whether your case studies are doing justice to your thinking, or burying it. We'll look at structure, how the work is told, and whether the visual craft is carrying you or holding you back. You'll leave with a clear, prioritised list of what to change and why, so you spend your effort where it actually moves the needle.
  • Levelling up: promotion readiness for designers (60 min): Ready for the next level, or just think you are? Most designers know they want a promotion. Far fewer can say precisely what's standing between them and it, or make the case convincingly when the moment comes. In this session we'll work out where you actually sit. What the next level genuinely expects, where your gaps are, and which of them matter enough to close first. We'll look at how your work is landing with peers and stakeholders, because being good is only half of it; the other half is whether the people making the decision can see it. We'll also talk about how to raise it. Promotion conversations are awkward, and most people either avoid them or go in underprepared. I've been on the other side of those conversations, and I'll help you approach yours with a clear case and the confidence to make it. You'll leave knowing where you stand, what to work on, and how to have the conversation.
