Worked on applying machine learning and optimization skills in method development and data analysis for single-cell RNA-Seq data and other types of data on single cell level. The goal is to study cellular mechanisms during differentiation, development of cells and disease progression.

• Implemented a graph database (neo4j) for customer profiling. The proof of concept application
shows 63% quicker and about 30% more accurate recommendations than the current implementation
• Developed an application, aided by a parser to translate Teradata SQL queries to Hive queries which help cut down the manual effort and save time - currently being used extensively by internal teams to transfer Big Data SQL models like sales, forecasting, etc.
• Enabled reporting (MicroStrategy) from a Hadoop cluster instead of currently used Teradata, cutting down licensing cost by over 40%

• Built a business intelligence app: exploroBOT, which allows non-expert data analysts to automatically explore the data without having to manually generate and browse numerous visualizations.
• Initial results show that by using the newly developed exploroBOT, instead of the traditionally
used analytics application Tableau, analysts can find relevant information about 45% faster.

• Worked for LIRMM lab at CNRS which is the largest fundamental science agency in Europe on a project for CIRAD: The French Government’s Agricultural Research Centre.
• Devised “EpidNews”: a big-data application to analyze heterogeneous spatio-temporal news data - in order to discover & study patterns in the distribution of animal diseases across Europe
• The Flask (Python) & Leaflet (Javascript) based app saves epidemiology researchers 5+ hours of work every week.

• Worked for cBioPortal @ Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the largest and oldest private cancer center in the world as a part of Google Summer of Code Program
• Augmented the patient-view page of cBioPortal which attracts more than 10,000 unique visitors (including cancer researchers & clinicians) monthly.
• Extended and added various plugins to the open source JavaScript library, clinical-timeline which focuses on visualization & analysis of clinical data. Also initialized continuous integration, code-quality services and unit-testing along with code-coverage services in the repository for better maintenance of code
