I've held a variety of "designer who can code" or "developer with an eye for design" roles as the way we build products for the web has evolved over the last 15 years. I'm tired of being called a "unicorn" when I believe this is a legitimate career path -- Amazon, Netflix, Indeed and many others call it "Design Technologist", and I believe it's a real opportunity for designers today.
I'm eager to show designers who are done with relying on developers to implement their visions how to develop the first-hand, up-to-date technical expertise to effectively deliver their creative intent, bridge the gap between design and engineering teams, break free of unproductive silos, and advocate for their work, their users, and their future career goals in this increasingly competitive, digital-forward environment, without having to start their careers over or find a new job.
