About Scott Chen

Senior Product Manager at PayPay

I’m a Senior Product Manager based in Japan, with a humanities background and experience across fintech, e-commerce, and digital platforms.

I started my career outside of engineering and worked my way into product roles in Japan’s tech industry. Because of that, I enjoy helping people from non-traditional backgrounds understand what product management actually looks like here and how to position themselves for it.

I can help with:

・Understanding how PM roles work in Japanese tech companies ・Moving into product from a non-PM or non-engineering background ・Sharpening your LinkedIn, resume, and career story for the Japan market ・Preparing for interviews with Japanese companies or international teams in Japan ・Navigating Japanese workplace culture, communication style, and hiring expectations ・Thinking through a practical path from Taiwan or overseas into Japan’s tech industry

*Best fit: people who are curious about product management, considering a move into Japan’s tech market, or trying to turn their past experience into a stronger product narrative.
