Design Strategist at Intuit
Hello! As a design leader with expertise in design research, innovation, futures thinking, product design, venture design, and product strategy, I tackle compelling challenges through a human-centric lens.
After studying accounting and working with PwC and John Deere, I started my career as a high school business and design teacher and administrator in the rural Mississippi Delta.
I then joined Education Elements, an ed design studio, working with schools and districts across the country to reimagine student learning. I played a key role in developing and expanding the studio's methodology and authored a number of thought pieces to enahnce the space.
While at Kellogg and IDEO, I conducted design research to create human-centric solutions to business challenges. I led design research projects for diverse organizations, including UNICEF, Nurture Life, Mars-Wrigley, the Teachers Guild, Lowe's, and various financial institutions.
At Impact Labs, I applied design to launch new ventures by guiding and leading cross-functional teams to focus on human needs as they develop new products that solve real-world problems.
Now at Intuit, I work on the QuickBooks Money Team to support small business growth by operating at the intersection of strategy and design.
โI approached Scott to learn about the design strategic role at Intuit - a place with high design maturity - as well as how to grow into a strategic-minded designer. Scott was knowledgable, transparent and empathetic and I was able to learn how Intuit cultivates a good design culture, as well as problems it is addressing.โ
โScott was awesome! He introduced me to the culture of Intuit and great tips on how to successfully finish an internship! He was very cheerful and encouraging on the internship application journey, sharing practical tips and offering help! I really enjoyed talking to him. His coworkers are blessed!โ
โScott was great to talk to. It was a very insightful session, I went with just a simple straightforward question, but ended up having so many other questions that popped into my head during the conversation. And he helped me a lot, I came out of the session more encouraged to act on my next steps.โ
