About Shuying Yao

Senior UX Researcher at Agoda

I did a career switch from a business-centric role into UX Research and that has been the best career move.

I am passionate about research, especially qualitative (though I believe both qual & quant are complementary), about asking the deeper whys and understanding the root of users' concerns, fears and anxieties. I believe that research is as much about asking the right questions, as listening and observing intently. I see myself as the voice of the users - deciphering, clarifying and translating their unspoken needs into things my product and design team should care about.

Connect with me if any of the following is what you are looking for: What it means to be a UX Researcher? Improving your research skills Working with designers & product managers Being a one-man research team Championing user-centricity Or simply to chat about anything related to research methodologies, hard & soft skills, frameworks, artefacts etc.

I may not always have the answer, but I'm looking forward to learning together and having a good discussion. :)
