About Sonali Agrawal

Product Design Consultant at Prep Baseball

I am a Lead Product Designer at Provi (a B2B product) who loves all things design and design systems. I love exploring problem spaces and fiddling with new ideas. I am a big fan of Animal crossing.

My journey started off as a volunteer web designer in November of 2005 doing everything from web design, front-end development as well as print media, while some projects also had me do photography for jewelry and edit later using Photoshop before the final handoff. Once I got my work visa, I took contract positions as a front-end developer focused primarily on CSS/HTML and JS.

5-6 years in, and I realized that my passion actually lives in solving user problems. I was always asking tons of questions around the why, what, how, etc., and luckily at that time, UX design as a field was just flourishing. Hence, I read lot's of articles, started practicing on my own, applied certain methodologies with the non-profits I was helping (which I never stopped doing), and I have to say what better way to get experience than hands-on.

While my journey continued, having full-time job as a UX Architect/Product designer, I started attending conferences, meeting new people, learning from other people and sharing my own story or challenges. I soon started helping people who have been in the industry for a couple of years as well as those who are just entering or are interested in entering the field. I've also met amazing mentors myself like Jenn Dodd (whose a mentor herself here at ADPList - one of my referral points) who has helped me learn a lot about how to be an effective leader and communicator.

The last 3 years of my career have been focused on Design Systems because of the fact that I've spent a lot many years of my professional journey as a front-end developer and a passion for improving not just users lives, but also developers, designers, product managers and pretty much the entire product and company. I am all about bridging the gap between design and development and continue improving and scaling the process. I have been mentoring 2 jr. designers at my current workplace, and it's been an amazing experience seeing how that relationship is growing and the designer feels value coming out of it.

All these years, I've really pushed all my boundaries with continued learning, trying out new things, and I am humbled and proud to list out my accomplishments so far:

Released a Figma plugin in partnership with a developer called "Annotate-It!" with 16.8k installs (V2 live) Released a Figma community library called "Flowmaps" with 6.9k installs Released an iOS mobile app in partnership with my brother (iOS developer) called "Instint" Featured in online magazines (like .net magazine, Dallas Voyage, etc.).

This journey doesn't end here yet! There's a lot more to be done, and I can't wait to continue being part of this amazing community in any way I can.
