Leading Forto's Design, Research and Marketing functions.

Leading Forto’s design organization, driving change toward a more experience-led company, simplifying global trade for everyone. 

Responsible for design vision, experience strategy, and operational leadership across all product domains (broker, operations, shipper).

Director of Design, building and scaling the Design and Research function at Forto:

• Design Leadership: Manage designers and researchers working with cross-functional domain teams, shipping new platform features for booking, transport management, rates management and allocation, customer insights, billing, and invoicing. Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to oversee planning and prioritization.

• Team Growth: Built the design function at Forto as the first design leader, scaling the team from one to thirteen FTEs within one year. Hired the first UX research team, including a Head of UX Research.

• Design System Modernization: Co-driver of an initiative with the platform engineering team, focused on increasing parity between design and code and creating more consistent and modern UI patterns across the platform.

• Supply Chain Visibility and Insights Program: Initiated and architected Forto’s largest customer-facing initiative focused on visibility, actionability, and predictability of events along the end-to-end freight service experience.

• North Star Strategy: Led product strategy work stream, a cross-functional initiative to create the future vision of Forto’s platform. A set of North Star customer stories provide stakeholders with a visual representation of what the future customer experience could look like and influence the future roadmap.

Product and Design Strategy for clients in the continental EU:

• Product and Design Strategy Consultant: Led product strategy and design for product companies and (corporate) startups from discovery to release.

• Business Development: Supported regional leadership in growing the Equal Experts client base in the continental EU by shaping the strategic approach in the early stages of engagements.

• Mapal OS Platform Strategy: Helped define product strategy for the newly created platform engineering team, laying the foundation for M&A growth led by Providence Strategic Growth (PSG).

• Flaconi: Led design initiatives across multiple domain teams, including checkout and after-sales services from discovery to release and customer validation. Supported the newly hired design leadership with establishing team rituals, critiques, and other design ops activities. 

• HHLA/heyport: Led product strategy and design for a 0-to-1 product to optimize port call operations, resulting in the founding of heyport, an HHLA startup.

Lead Consultant, Product Strategy and Design:

• Lead Consultant on an organizational change management program, restructuring a 100+ people tech department into new product domains. 
• Strategy for OTTO Group’s future logistics management platform and fulfilment services for marketplace partners

Resigned after successfully completing the restructuring plan and target architecture definition, to pursue other opportunities.

Co-Founder and Managing Director of a UX boutique consultancy:

• Business Development: Built long-term client partnerships with several organizations, nationally and internationally, across industries such as telecommunication, infrastructure, transportation, supply chain management, automotive, and finance.

• Leadership: Created and implemented an embedded operating model for design consultants, to ensure high efficiency and quality of work.

• Coaching and training: Conducted training with designers and non-designers on agile UX, user research, co-creation, and design-led innovation.

• A1 Telekom Austria (Vienna): UX Design Consultant (Principal IC) on various initiatives over the course of 5 years. Led design initiatives to increase sales conversion, cross- and up-selling, and customer loyalty.  

• Berlin Hyp (Berlin): Product Strategy and Design Consultant (Principal IC) on a 0-to-1 customer service product for the credit application process. Conducted lean research with B2B customers to gather direct insights into their needs and pain points. Conducted a series of co-creation workshops and established product vision and design from discovery to the first prototype.

• Brenntag (Berlin/Amsterdam): First Designer on the Brenntag digital transformation journey, introducing game-changing ideas to the world of chemical distribution. Helped Brenntag to envision their future digital business models by running experiments and leading co-creation with stakeholders. Led research initiatives in Benelux, Germany, and North America with B2B customers in the manufacturing industry. Highlights included uncovering innovation potential along the customer journey and teaming up with the Digital Supply Chain Manager of EMEA to re-invent the last-mile delivery experience.

UX Lead for clients across various industries:

• UX Lead: Led UX design for client projects, closely collaborating with Visual Designers, Copywriters, and Engineers. 

• Business Development: Led the pitch team and established UX as a specialized offering in large-scale B2B initiatives. Won new business by introducing prospective clients to interactive prototyping and design systems.

Head of Product and Design for the publishing platform and the agency business:

• Led a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and UX writers to ensure continuous improvement of the publishing platform and development of new products for the healthcare industry.

• Highlights included building the first digital breast cancer screening system for the Austrian Ministry of Health and relaunching netdoktor's online health community (~300k active members).

Worked with childern and adolescents at the age of 6 to 16 in an assisted living community

• Managed and designed products for clients in the healthcare industry. 
• Led design for Austria's most visited health information website.
