Sessions with Varsha Kori

  • Mentorship Session (30 min): Mentorship session
  • Resume Review (30 min): Hey there! Whether you are actively hunting for your next role, prepping for an internal transfer, or just want to make sure your career history tells a compelling story, this session is for you. We will dive straight into what hiring managers actually look for: clear formatting, scannable hierarchies, and data-driven impact. Bring your current draft, an open mind, and a specific job description if you have one in mind. Let’s turn your day-to-day tasks into powerful stories of business outcomes and user advocacy.
  • Portfolio Strategy (30 min): Hey there! Is your portfolio a chronological list of design artifacts, or does it tell a compelling story of how you solve complex problems? In a competitive market, a great portfolio doesn't just show beautiful UI; it proves your value as a strategic product partner. In this session, we will move past generic templates and dive into the mechanics of building an intentional, standout UX portfolio that hooks recruiters and hiring managers within the first 60 seconds. Together, we’ll audit your case studies to ensure you aren't just explaining what you built, but why you built it, how you evaluated complex data, and how your design decisions drove clear business outcomes and user advocacy.
  • UX Career Accelerator: Case Study Strategy (30 min): Are you sending out your UX portfolio or resume and hearing silence? Most design assets read like a dry list of tasks, failing to show how your design decisions actually moved the needle. This structured, bi-weekly program takes you from a generic applicant to a standout candidate. Over 4 sessions, we will audit your current materials, identify narrative gaps, and transform your work into an intentional story of business outcomes, accessibility, and user advocacy. Because sessions are bi-weekly, you’ll have a full 14 days between calls to implement feedback and iterate on your layouts. The 4-Session Roadmap: Session 1: Deep-dive audit of your primary case study & strategic goal alignment. Session 2: Shifting the narrative—transforming task lists into metric-driven impact statements. Session 3: Information architecture check—optimizing for the 6-second recruiter scan. Session 4: Final polish, live interview presentation strategy, and milestone wrap-up. Best for designers actively hunting for roles or preparing for an upcoming hiring milestone.
  • UX Interview Blitz: Live Portfolio Prep (30 min): Got a final-round portfolio review or panel interview coming up? This high-velocity intensive is built for designers who need to polish their presentation skills immediately. Over 3 back-to-back weekly sessions, we will pivot away from your static website and focus entirely on the art of the live portfolio review. We will practice how to articulate your design rationale under pressure, command the room, and frame complex stakeholder pushback or messy project constraints as major design victories. This is an intense, execution-focused sprint requiring rapid iteration between sessions. The 3-Session Roadmap: Session 1: Presentation deck audit - structuring your case study narrative for a live audience. Session 2: Verbal storytelling & handling tough stakeholder questions (Mock Q&A). Session 3: Final critique and3 alignment. Best for candidates with upcoming, time-sensitive interviews who need immediate, focused practice.

What mentees say

“Varsha was incredibly helpful and gave me thoughtful, actionable feedback on my portfolio. She quickly identified areas I could improve and offered clear, practical suggestions. She was patient, supportive, and generous with her insights. I really enjoyed working with her and highly recommend her as a design mentor!”

Ying Liu, UX designer at NXtele

“Varsha reviewed my case study in detail. She highlighted concrete opportunities for improvement, such as using specific numbers to show the impact of my work. This was invaluable because I've found it challenging to do so for capstone projects that didn't ship. Plus, her humble and calm demeanour made me feel at ease.”

Ogonna Jideobi, Product Designer at Freelance

“I’ve met with Varsha a couple of times now, and I always leave our conversations with useful insights and great feedback. She has a thoughtful way of reviewing portfolios, resumes, and profiles - gentle but thorough, transparent, and clearly grounded in experience. She’s helped me rethink my portfolio and resume, often using simple frameworks that make her feedback easy to understand and apply.”

Nidhi Bhat, Product Designer at GEOH, Inc.
