About Ziwei Deng
product designer at THD
Hi, I'm Ziwei — a Senior UX Designer at The Home Depot with seven years of design experience across architecture and digital product. I work both sides of the shopping experience: I lead design for search, recommendations, and AI-driven shopping, and I'm the founding designer and design lead for the internal platform our merchandising teams use to configure it — which gives me a complete view of the system. Independently, I design AI products, recognized with a Red Dot Award and other international design awards, and exhibited in New York and Paris. Before product, I spent three years as an architect at KPF, on international projects including Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 5. I changed disciplines without a map and took wrong turns a few conversations would have spared me. I've since made a habit of being that person for others: managing interns, leading junior designers end to end, and coaching more than ten design students through their portfolios into the graduate programs they wanted. ADPList is where I want to keep doing it. I can help you with: Portfolio review and career narrative Moving into product design from another discipline Designing AI into products people already rely on

What mentees say
“Very dedicated and genuinely motivated mentor! He showed up for our session even though it was midnight in his time zone, which I really appreciated, especially since mentors sometimes cancel in situations like this. He also conducted a thorough review of my portfolio and provided valuable, actionable advice.”
