ADPList extends a philosophy I deeply believe in: that access to good mentorship shouldn't depend on who you already know. Being part of it means I can reach people well beyond my immediate network, folks at the very beginning of a career change who might not have any other touchpoint into this industry. It's a way to keep paying forward what others have given me.

I started mentoring because I saw firsthand how much a non-linear career path, moving from teaching to educational media to publishing to tech, can feel isolating without someone to help you make sense of it. ADPList gave me a way to reach people who are navigating similar pivots and offer the kind of candid, experience-based guidance that can genuinely change someone's trajectory.

Your "unconventional" background is actually your competitive advantage. Don't sand it down to fit a job description; lead with it. My own path from classroom teacher to product management taught me how to think about users, storytelling, and learning in ways that pure tech backgrounds often don't, and that combination has opened more doors than it has closed.
