Early in my career, I spent a lot of time figuring out what interaction design and UX actually were. No one really knew. It has evolved a lot over the years. I've been lucky to have some amazing mentors who helped me develop my skills as both a designer and a business communicator. When I transitioned into consulting, designer development was a significant gap in my day-to-day. Mentoring played a huge role in fulfilling my desire to help others discover their path, work through job challenges, and figure out their next steps. It's a remarkable two-way street: seeing things from new perspectives and sharing old advice.

Product design isn't about the shiny object. AI can do that now. You should be the loudest voice of the customer in the room, but still recognize that your goal is to build with the team, learn, and iterate. Be impactful with your process, and then you'll be impactful with metrics.
