Senior Product Designer

Microsoft

About this interview

A spoken practice interview for a Senior Product Designer role, run the way teams at Microsoft are known to interview. You talk out loud with an AI interviewer for four to six questions, with real follow-up probes, then get an honest read on where you stand.

How this interviewer behaves: Enterprise-scale, inclusive-design culture. Push on accessibility, backward compatibility, and influence across large orgs.

About the role

A Senior Product Designer at Microsoft works on software that people and whole organisations run their work on, from Windows and Office to Teams and Azure. Changes reach admins, partners and everyday users at once, so backward compatibility is part of the design. At this level you are expected to set direction for an area, bring partner teams with you, and be right often enough that people stop asking for the reasoning.

What you'd do

  • Design for enterprise admins and everyday users without making either an afterthought.
  • Build inclusive and accessible patterns into the work from the start.
  • Set direction for a product area rather than a single feature, and bring partner teams along with you.
  • Raise the craft bar around you: critique, design-system contribution, and mentoring designers earlier in their career.
  • Turn an ambiguous problem into work a team can start on Monday.

What they look for

  • Evidence of shipping change inside a long-lived product without breaking how people already work.
  • Six or more years designing shipped products.
  • At least one piece of work where you can say precisely what you decided, and what you were wrong about.
  • A record of influencing scope and strategy, not only execution.
  • Comfort presenting to, and disagreeing with, senior stakeholders.

This is a practice interview, not a job posting. ADPList is not hiring for this role and is not recruiting on the company's behalf.

What this interview weighs most

  • The quality of the calls you made, and why you made them
  • How clearly you structure an answer under pressure

  2. Talk it through out loudYou'll have a real spoken interview with an AI interviewer: 4 to 6 questions with genuine follow-up probes, just like the real thing.
  3. Get an honest scorecardFeedback calibrated to real hiring bars: where you stand across five dimensions, the moments that cost you, and your three moves to improve.
